Nala appoints Ashraf Aly global head of compliance and risk

2h ago

Nala has appointed Ashraf Aly as global head of compliance and risk, giving him responsibility for those functions across the company's app and its Rafiki stablecoin payments infrastructure for banks and enterprises. The company announced the appointment in a brief public statement.

The role covers both a consumer-facing product and a business-focused infrastructure offering. That means compliance and risk oversight must account for the controls expected in an app used by customers as well as the requirements that apply when banks and enterprises use its payment technology systems.

Rafiki is described as Nala's stablecoin payments infrastructure for banks and enterprises. Placing compliance and risk leadership in a single global role puts those functions alongside product and infrastructure operations, reflecting the need to manage controls across both sides of the business.

Payments companies and digital-asset infrastructure providers face close attention from regulators and banking partners, making compliance a central operational concern. The announcement did not include further details about Aly's background or the terms of his appointment. Nala said he will lead compliance and risk across the Nala app and Rafiki.
