Partior and LSEG DiSH Trial Multi-Bank Settlement for 24/7 Liquidity

5h ago

Partior and LSEG's DiSH unit have moved into testing for a multi-bank settlement setup, an arrangement that would let participating institutions move value between one another continuously rather than only inside conventional banking hours. The work pairs a shared settlement layer with market infrastructure operated by an exchange group.

The push toward always-on settlement reflects how payments and digital markets increasingly run around the clock. Cross-border transfers, collateral moves and trading activity do not stop at the close of a business day, yet much of the infrastructure behind them still batches transactions and pauses overnight and at weekends. That leaves liquidity parked and forces banks to hold buffers against timing risk.

Partior, a clearing and settlement venture backed by several large banks, has focused on interbank transfers across currencies. LSEG's DiSH represents the exchange group's effort to build settlement capacity. Bringing the two together is intended to test whether banks connected to one network can settle against counterparties reachable only through the other.

Plenty remains unresolved. Questions over legal finality, governance, regulatory treatment and how members fund intraday positions will shape whether such a model can scale beyond a pilot. No timetable or participant list has been disclosed. Still, the trial adds to a broader industry argument that round-the-clock liquidity is becoming a baseline expectation rather than a differentiator.
