Visa, StraitsX to Broaden Stablecoin-Backed Card Reach

3d ago

StraitsX has announced a partnership with Visa aimed at widening its card issuing footprint around the world. The company describes itself as a stablecoin-native settlement layer for global finance, and the tie-up with Visa is designed to extend its card capabilities into more than 100 markets.

The arrangement places stablecoin-backed cards within Visa's digital payments network, connecting StraitsX's settlement approach with a major card issuer ecosystem. That combination could make it easier for users and businesses to spend stablecoin-linked balances through familiar card rails, while keeping settlement on blockchain-based infrastructure.

Stablecoins have moved from a niche crypto tool toward a broader payments discussion, especially where faster cross-border settlement and always-on transfers are valued. Card issuing is one route for bringing those tokens into everyday commerce, though regulatory treatment and reserve transparency remain central questions for the sector.

For StraitsX, the Visa partnership signals a push beyond its existing settlement role toward global card distribution. The expanded reach covers more than 100 markets, according to the announcement, although further details on rollout timing, supported regions, and participating issuers were not provided.
