US Bank launches identity and privacy monitoring service
US Bank has introduced a service that lets customers monitor their credit, identity and privacy, flagging risks that surface on the dark web and pointing users toward action when problems are found. The offering is the latest sign that large lenders see security features as part of the everyday banking package rather than a niche extra.
Dark web monitoring typically works by scanning illicit marketplaces and forums where stolen credentials and personal data are traded. When a customer's information appears to be exposed, the service notifies them and outlines steps they can take, such as changing passwords or freezing credit.
Financial institutions have been expanding such protections as consumers grow more concerned about data breaches and fraud. Identity and privacy tools have become a common add-on in retail banking, often paired with credit tracking and restoration support.
US Bank did not disclose pricing, eligibility details or a launch timeline in its announcement. The move places it alongside other large US lenders that have folded identity safeguards into their consumer product lineups, betting that security features can deepen customer relationships and reduce churn.
