Samsung and Checkout.com sign global digital payments partnership

2h ago

Checkout.com has unveiled a worldwide partnership with Samsung Electronics aimed at powering the consumer technology group's digital commerce operations. The announcement positions the digital payments provider as a supplier of processing infrastructure for one of the world's largest device makers.

Under the arrangement, Checkout.com is to support Samsung's commerce ecosystem with payment capabilities it describes as flexible and high-performance, handling transactions across the manufacturer's online and mobile channels. The company framed the agreement as a sign of demand from large enterprises for processing that can absorb heavy volumes.

The tie-up also brings Samsung Pay to a wider set of merchants, extending the mobile wallet's presence at checkout. For Checkout.com, the relationship adds a globally recognised brand to a merchant roster that already spans e-commerce, travel and software businesses.

The deal highlights how competition among payment processors is increasingly focused on winning the business of multinationals that need a single provider across many markets. Neither company offered financial details or a timeline for the rollout. Samsung's scale gives its payments partner a large volume base, while the processor's network gives the electronics group another route into retail transactions beyond its own devices.
