Nine Companies Object to OKXICE Tokenized Stock Plan

5h ago

Nine companies have formally objected to OKXICE's plan to offer tokenized versions of their shares, with Broadcom, CoreWeave, Verizon and UnitedHealth Group among those raising concerns. The objections put a spotlight on one of the most ambitious corners of digital-asset expansion, where exchanges have sought to replicate traditional equity exposure on public blockchains.

Tokenized equities have drawn growing interest as a way to offer round-the-clock trading and fractional exposure to listed companies. Supporters argue the format could widen access and streamline settlement, while skeptics question whether a token can genuinely convey the rights attached to a share.

The objecting companies' concerns center on control over how their equity is represented and on the legal uncertainty that surrounds token structures. A token issued without a company's consent may confuse investors about ownership, voting and dividends, and could raise compliance and reputational questions for issuers that never signed off.

OKXICE has not indicated publicly how it will respond to the pushback, and it remains unclear whether the objections will delay or curtail the listings. The outcome will be watched closely by other platforms pursuing similar products and by listed companies weighing how to respond.
