JPMorgan extends lead as most AI-advanced bank

6h ago

JPMorgan Chase has once again taken the top spot in the Evident AI Index, reinforcing its position as the banking industry's most advanced institution in artificial intelligence. The latest ranking shows the US lender widening the gap between itself and its global peers.

The index ranks banks on how thoroughly they have woven artificial intelligence into their operations, weighing factors such as specialist talent, research output, investment and the governance surrounding deployment. Topping it for another cycle indicates that the firm's programs are not merely experimental but embedded at scale.

For the wider industry, the result highlights how competition among large lenders has moved toward technological capability. Banks increasingly treat AI as a lever for cost efficiency, risk assessment and customer service, rather than a side project housed in a research unit.

Rivals across North America, Europe and Asia continue to spend heavily on the technology, and several have narrowed the distance in specific areas. Closing the remaining gap will likely require sustained hiring, computing infrastructure and clear rules for responsible use, areas where the largest institutions can leverage their scale. The index is followed closely because it offers one of the few public comparisons of AI maturity across global banking.
