FIS Builds Agentic AI Tools for CFO Workflows
FIS, a long-standing provider of banking and payments technology, has introduced an agentic AI suite aimed squarely at the chief financial officer's domain. The offering is meant to support the finance chief's oversight of collections, liquidity, risk and cash flow.
The label "agentic" marks a step past simpler automation. Rather than merely flagging anomalies or generating reports, agentic systems are built to take actions on their own within set boundaries. Vendors across banking software have been racing to attach such capabilities to core finance functions, betting that treasury and finance teams will pay for tools that reduce manual intervention.
For CFOs, the appeal is practical. Collections, liquidity, risk and cash flow are tightly linked, and decisions in one area ripple into the others. Software that monitors and acts across them could compress the time between spotting a problem and responding. How that works in practice will depend on execution.
The move reflects broader competition among banking technology suppliers to embed AI deeper into finance and back-office operations. Whether agentic tools deliver measurable gains, or raise fresh questions about control and oversight, will help determine how quickly finance chiefs adopt them.
