EDX Markets, VerifiedX Join Forces on Tokenised Bitcoin
EDX Markets has struck a strategic partnership with VerifiedX to make a tokenised version of Bitcoin available for institutional spot trading, the two firms said. Under the arrangement, Verified Bitcoin (vBTC) will be listed on EDX's venue, giving professional participants a way to trade a digital representation of the largest cryptocurrency.
VerifiedX bills itself as a programmable financial operating system built for Bitcoin and what it calls Intel assets. Its vBTC product is designed to carry Bitcoin's value into tokenised form, a structure the company says is intended for institutions rather than retail users.
EDX describes itself as a digital asset technology firm that pairs a venue restricted to institutional clients with a central clearinghouse, a combination meant to bring familiar market plumbing to crypto trading. Adding a tokenised Bitcoin product fits that model, since clearing and settlement arrangements are central to how asset managers and brokers evaluate digital assets.
The tie-up lands as tokenisation draws growing attention across traditional finance, with banks, exchanges and fund managers exploring ways to put conventional assets on distributed ledgers. For Bitcoin, the appeal lies in wrapping a widely held asset in a format that fits existing institutional workflows.
