DTCC names Samir Pandiri as chief client officer

11h ago

The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation has named Samir Pandiri as a managing director and its chief client officer, a role that takes effect on September 28. The appointment places him in a senior position at the clearinghouse that sits at the center of the US securities market.

DTCC handles clearing and settlement for a broad range of instruments, including equities, corporate and municipal bonds, and derivatives. Because it stands between buyers and sellers, the firm is a critical piece of the plumbing that keeps trades moving and reduces counterparty risk across the financial system.

As chief client officer, Pandiri will be responsible for how the organization works with the banks, brokers and asset managers that rely on its services. That task has grown more demanding as market participants confront tighter settlement timeframes, changing margin rules and rising expectations around operational resilience and data.

The hire reflects a wider emphasis on client-facing leadership at financial infrastructure providers, which must balance the needs of a diverse membership against regulatory and risk obligations. Firms across the industry have been investing in service and relationship functions as competition for post-trade business intensifies.
